TS Mahalakshmi Scheme Overview
On November 17, 2023, the Telangana INC party, led by President Mallikarjun Kharge, released its manifesto for the state elections. They are now in power in Telangana, and the Mahalakshmi Scheme, a key component of their manifesto, promises various benefits to women. This comprehensive scheme includes 3 main components:

TS Mahalakshmi Scheme Eligibility
As We mentioned above Mahalakshmi Scheme combines three sub-schemes, specific eligibility criteria may vary depending on the chosen scheme. These are the basic and most important eligibility requirements.
- Must be a permanent resident of Telangana.
- Only women and girls residing in Telangana are eligible.
- Must provide valid documents for verification and application.
- Family income must fall within the specified limit.
- Only one woman per family can be eligible for the scheme.
- Must provide valid residence proof for all schemes within the Mahalakshmi program.
Note:- As above said eligibility requirements will vary, to access free travel in TSRTC buses, you just need any ID proof with local telangana address and all women can use it.

Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women
Telangana’s new Chief Minister launched a free bus travel scheme for all women within the state on December 9th, 2023, one part of their manifesto. This “Mahalakshmi Scheme” sub-initiative allows any woman residing in Telangana to travel on any TSRTC bus, anywhere, anytime, without cost or limitations. While smart cards provide for easier access are planned for the future, currently, women simply need to show valid ID for verification.
