AP HouseHold Mapping Full Details

Household mapping AP is a process of identifying and recording the number of households and their members in a given area. In Andhra Pradesh, household mapping was carried out in 2019 by volunteers appointed by the government. The data collected during household mapping is used to identify eligible households for government schemes and programs.

The previous government’s method of relying on mandal level officials and local leaders to gather data for the Public Empowerment Survey led to inaccuracies and inconsistencies. Families within the same ration card were not considered separate entities, limiting their access to welfare benefits.

Recognizing this issue, the YSRCP government introduced the Split (division) option, allowing families to apply for separate ration cards. This has significantly expanded the reach of welfare schemes to more eligible households.

In 2019, the government initiated a house mapping exercise, conducting door-to-door surveys to gather accurate family data. This initiative identified families sharing ration cards and facilitated the Split process, ensuring wider distribution of welfare benefits.

To further address the evolving needs of families, the government has reintroduced the Split option in January 2023. This allows families formed after 2019 to apply for separate ration cards, ensuring continued access to welfare support.
