To identify individuals eligible for this program, the Electricity Department is collecting details such as Aadhar numbers, ration card numbers, and mobile numbers. Already, starting today, similar initiatives have been implemented in various regions. The Electricity Department officials are communicating with the public through WhatsApp groups, where they are requesting individuals to share their details, including Aadhar numbers, ration card numbers, and a contact number, through a message on a paper.
These details will be used to calculate the average electricity consumption for the previous year, based on which the scheme will be executed.
Eligibility Criteria & Conditions for TS Gruha Jyothi Scheme
Eligibility Criteria:
- To be eligible for the Gruha Jyothi scheme, households must be residents of Telangana and have a valid ration card.
- The household must consume less than 200 units of electricity per month.
- There is no income limit for the scheme.
Implementation Conditions
- Only households with electricity consumption less than 200 units are eligible for the scheme.
- Households with more than 200 units of electricity consumption are ineligible.
- One household with a ration card will only get 200 units of electricity free.
- This applies regardless of the number of members in the household or the number of electricity meters.
- Pending payments must be cleared before availing the scheme.
- The average electricity consumption of the household between 2020 and 2023 should be less than 2181 units to be eligible for the scheme
