CEIR Full Form: Central Equipment Identity Register. It is a young and impactful portal addressing mobile phone theft. CEIR was launched in July 2019 by the Department of Telecommunication with the aim of controlling and preventing mobile phone theft in India.
Recognizing the rising issue of mobile phone theft, in the initial phase, CEIR created a centralized database of mobile device identifiers to track and block lost or stolen phones. After the year 2020, the CEIR portal gained momentum, with some telecommunication brands integrating under it. This initiative increased awareness of the CEIR portal and improved system effectiveness and speed.
In present times, the CEIR portal is assisting numerous people across the country. The interface has become more accessible. As it is an official Government of India portal, users can trust it without worries about security issues.

How to Block Stolen/Lost Mobile in
If your mobile phone is stolen or lost, follow this guide to block it. Before proceeding, file a complaint at your nearest police station with valid documents. Include a letter detailing how, when, and where your mobile phone was stolen or lost, along with your personal and mobile details. Once you have the police complaint report, begin the online blocking process:
- Visit the ceir.gov.in
- In the CEIR services option, select the “Block Stolen/Lost Mobile” option.
- The application form will open, consisting of three sections:
- a. Device Information: Enter your stolen/lost mobile details, including mobile number, IMEI numbers, device brand, and model. If you have an invoice, upload it. You can also use the mobile box receipt.
- b. Lost Information: Provide details about the loss, such as the location where the mobile was lost, the exact date, address, and the nearest police station. Mention the complaint number and upload the police complaint.
- c. Mobile Owner Personal Details: Fill in the mobile owner details, upload any valid government ID proof, and enter the mobile number for OTP verification. Click on the “Get OTP” option and complete the OTP verification.
- Once the application form is completed, check the declaration box and submit.
After the Submission Reference number will generate copy or save. After You can track status with this number.
How to Check CEIR Request Status
After blocking a stolen/lost mobile, you will receive a request ID. After a few days, you can track this application by following these steps:
- Visit the CEIR Webportal.
- Find and click on the “CEIR Services” option, then select the “Check Request Status” option.
- Enter the request ID and captcha, and submit the information.
- Now, you can view your application along with the status of the form.
- If you encounter any errors, you can visit your concerned police station with the application.
How to Un-block a Found Mobile
If you have found your mobile and wish to unblock it, follow this guide:
- Visit the CEIR Official portal.
- In the “Services of CEIR” section, choose the “Unblock Found Mobile” option.
- A new page will open; enter your request ID and the provided mobile number. Select the reason for unblocking and complete the captcha.
- Click on “Get OTP” and proceed with the verification process.
- After a few minutes, your mobile will unblock itself.
- Upon recovering your lost or stolen mobile phone and completing the unblocking process, your CEIR old registration form will automatically collapse after some time.
Know Your Mobile (KYM)
KYM stands for Know Your Mobile. KYM is very useful and important for new buyers. With KYM, you can determine if your mobile is blacklisted, duplicated, or already in use. If you are considering buying a mobile, follow the KYM process. Just find the mobile’s IMEI number and use KYM to determine if it is new or blacklisted. KYM offers three different methods, all of which are very easy to use. Follow this guide:
- KYM through SMS: If you want to know your KYM with just a simple and single SMS, then use this method. Just SMS your 15-digit IMEI number to 14422. Follow this format: KYM<15 Digits IMEI No.> to 14422.
- KYM through KYM App: Another easy method is to directly download the KYM mobile app. Enter the mobile IMEI number and then click on check. The mobile KYM details will then be displayed.
- KYM through Web Portal: Another easy method that doesn’t require opening another app is to use your browser. Visit the CEIR portal, find the “Know Your Mobile” section, and select the Web Portal option. A new page will open; enter your mobile number and captcha, complete the OTP verification, and then enter the IMEI number to check your KYM.
IMEI Verification Status
IMEI Verification: If you wish to buy a new mobile phone or check your mobile’s IMEI number for verification, follow these steps. IMEI Verification reveals your mobile status on the CEIR portal, indicating whether it is blacklisted or not.
- Visit the CEIR Web Portal.
- Go to the Applications section and select the IMEI Verification option.
- Complete the OTP verification using your mobile number.
- After entering your IMEI number, click on the search button.
- In the status section, you can check the status of the mobile phone.
How to Rise a Complaint in ceir.gov.in
If you want to file a complaint on the CEIR portal for any issue, follow these steps:
- Go to the CEIR Webportal and find the “Contact Us” option.
- You will see three options: “Register Complaint,” “Complaint Status,” and “Feedback.” Choose “Register Complaint.”
- Select your region and the type of fault.
- Enter a detailed description of the fault in the provided box.
- Fill in your personal details accurately.
- Finally, submit your complaint.
