Districts of Telangana: After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the formation of Telangana in 2014, the TRS party (now known as BRS) came to power and began ruling the state. To improve administrative efficiency and provide better services to the people, Telangana decided to divide the state into 31 districts initially.
For example, new districts were created by dividing existing districts into smaller units, such as the Mahabubnagar district, which was divided into four new districts: Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy, and Nagarkurnool.
In 2019, the Telangana government created two more new districts, Mulugu and Narayanpet, bringing the total number of districts in Telangana to 33.
